Reframing the Defense Outsourcing Debate:

Merging Government Oversight with Industry Partmership

Despite the publicity on fees paid to private contractors in the global stability sector, the U.S. Congress has failed to respond to calls to measure cost-effectiveness.

Can the private sector deliver most goods and services quicker and cheaper than governments? We believe it can. But the facts aren’t in yet. A new study, Reframing the Defense Outsourcing Debate: Merging Government Oversight with Industry Partnership, produced by the Peace Operations Institute (POI), addresses some of these issues. The report will certainly move the policy debate on the outsourcing issue. Thanks to POI, a nonprofit educational organization based in Washington, D.C., for granting Serviam permission to present an edited version.
